Tetrominoes

Here are some poems from my 2011 chapbook, “Tetronimoes.”

It’s filled with a variety of re-edited Typewriter Poetry poems, as well as my work during college.

You can download a free PDF copy, if you really want to. Or just buy the actual thing.

The Natives

Here is an excerpt from my novel. You can read more about the work in progress at “The Natives” (tentative title).

His mission to reach his friends is momentarily interrupted. He is not sure who crashes into whom, but what he can be sure of is the act of collision, itself.

She is a girl in a pink raincoat wearing classic Converse shoes. The pink on her is not the bubblegum pink he wants to see. It is hot, too hot, and bright, and loud.

Her books and notebooks have scattered to the ground. It is a mess. Everywhere is paper.

She bends down to begin the cleaning process. Trent stalls, looks around. He knows what is expected of him. He knows what he has to do.

“I’m sorry,” Trent says. “I really am.”

“Oh,” she responds. He recognizes the feigned surprise–it is part of social ritual. “Don’t worry about–”

“No,” he interrupts. “Don’t say it. You’ll regret it based on what I’m about to tell you.”

She stares at his caged animal eyes warily. Ceases her cleaning. “…Oh.”

“I have to go,” Trent explains. “You have to trust me on this. I’ve done my fair share of good deeds for the day. I can’t stay and help you.” He looks around at the accident he is half responsible for causing. “I have to go. It’s important. You understand.”

She can only watch him leave, her papers still scattered, her books still dirtied by the pavement. “Okay,” she says to no one.

Here is an excerpt from a book series I am working on. You can read more about it at “Untitled Series.”

Here are some letters I have written to various abstractions. This was part of the Undeniables Workshop.
